How to choose a heated knee wrap: 7 things to check

Heated knee wraps look alike in photos, but small details decide whether you'll reach for one every evening or leave it in a drawer. Here is what to check before you buy, whichever brand you choose.
1. Cordless or plug-in
A plug-in wrap keeps you within reach of an outlet. A rechargeable wrap lets you sit wherever you're comfortable. If you go cordless, look for the battery life per charge.
2. Adjustable heat, and how hot it gets
More heat isn't always better. Look for several levels so you can start low, and for a clearly stated maximum temperature.
3. A timer that switches it off
An automatic shut-off is one of the most useful features on any heated product. You don't have to watch the clock, and the wrap won't stay on if you lose track of time.
4. Fit and sizing
Check the strap length and whether an extension strap is included. The wrap should feel snug, never tight. If you're unsure, measure around the middle of your knee before you order.
5. Massage strength: set your expectations
Most wraps use vibration. It can feel relaxing, but it isn't the same as a deep-tissue or shiatsu massage. If you want a strong massage, a wrap may not be the right product for you.
6. Simple controls
Look for clear, physical buttons you can use without your glasses or an app.
7. Returns and warranty
Comfort is personal. Before you buy, read how long you have to try it, who pays for return shipping, and what happens if it stops working.
